Hi everyone, I'm Peter Bland, the Australian adventurer featured on Dateline NBC. I am an author, speaker and adventure guide. I now run adventure trips to Antarctica and Outback Australia.
I have 3 beautiful children aged 9,7 and 5. My wife, Julia, and I had been together for 18 years travelling all over the world having some incredible experiences together and struggling with some pretty harsh lows and many stresses during that time. These included my heart surgery and that of our son. We had also faced financial trials and further medical trials with me being taken by an avelanche in Antarctica in 2001.
However despite having gotten through all of that we have recently seperated. Wow, where did that come from? I didn't see it coming that is for sure.
I mention this because this seperation fomed part of the story that was just screened on Julia and I on NBC Dateline.
Watching the show brought back some great memories for me. It also made me contemplate how we ended up where we are. Is it for the better? Was it always going to happen which such strong minded people?
Well life is a journey isn't it?
I'd love to hear your thoughts and questions and I'll try to respond to as many as I can following the show and in the days afterwards.
All the best.
Peter Bland

Hi Peter,
When's the next trip to Antarctica?
How do you foresee the future of the relationship with you and your wife ?
Pete, is your ex-wife seeing someone else yet?
Hi Pete. Are you still married to Jules?
Great story... I admire your courage!!
When you go back to Antarctica just make sure to listen for avalanches! Hopefully next time it'll turn out differently
Your strive for overcoming difficulties was very motivating. My question is, if you could do it over again knowing that your relationship was at steak, would you?
Peter,
Great story. My question is, If you could do everything all over again, is there anything that you would want to change?
I am half Aussie. My Mum was from Geralton WA. Took the family "back home" last August. WOnderful adventures but, forgive me for the personal nature, how did you afford all of this? In your 20's jetting around the world? Just curious.
How is your health NOW??,, peter?
Is this the chat with him?
how do you see the foreseeable future of the relationship with you and your wife giving the current circumstances
What advice can you give to young people with dreams of adventure such as yours? I've always wanted to travel with sea shepard and lend my services to them, and spread the word about oceaninc conservation of the ocean that I've loved since I was a kid.
You have such a beautiful family to live and you are getting older man. Is it worth it to be tempting fate like that?
Wait a minute, I didn't see the part about you getting separated on the TV show?
Great story... I admire your courage!!
Do any of your children show signs that they have the "adventure" gene in them like you? And if so, how do you think you will guide them, and what will you say to them.
You are an inspiration to all.
Peter,
I just wanted to tell you that I don't need to meet you to know that if you decide to put your marriage back together (it's so obvious that you belong together) that you will. You are an amazing man.... and I think your wife knows that, still loves you and is just looking for a sign. Don't ever give up and you will win her back.
Have faith,
Susie
Peter,
I am in awe of what you and your wife have done. I have always been afraid to take any chances. My prayers are with you and your family. Thank you for letting me live through you for a few minutes.
Pam
Peter,
I enjoyed the piece very much. I am curious if you regret living life the way you did or if you are the type of person who takes everything as a lesson learned.
Best of luck,
Augie
What I want to know is (1) Was the whole story just free publicity for your ventures and Jules' art show? And (2) who came up with the idea to totally throw away journalistic integrity and try to sell the tripe about your son having heart problems because Jules' heart "was breaking" while you were out of town.
CMIlawyer is rude and obnoxious...she probably had her heart broken and thinks Peter is the punching bag, twat..
Your comments reveal you missed the whole message: the journey, the lessons, the experience, the inspiration. That's sad.
CMlawyer - Are you kidding me? Grow up.
Good luck to you and your family. There is NOTHING more precious than that.
It may have been answered, but did you and your wife stay together. The news report seemed alittle vague.
